Share the Word was a dance-work for an intergenerational cast of dancers that was performed in schools and care-homes around Surrey in Feruary-March 2011.
Share the word… brings together the themes and ethos of the recently revived “make-do-and-mend” movement into a dance-work incorporating live movement and film that gets people talking and thinking about their values and stories/ experiences. Through looking at and discussing many different objects, we explored ‘second-hand’, ‘recycling’ and ‘reusing’.
The starting point for this piece was the sharing of stories and experiences stimulated by 4 commonly found objects: Knitting, Music Stand, Cleudo Game, Microscope. I brought together the experiences of the group to create 4 short narratives which related to the 4 objects and provided the structure and content of the dance-work and films. Go to the blog to find out more about the creative process and watch clips from rehearsals.
