Become part of our Expert Panel...
At Second Hand Dance, we're researching new approaches and challenging our practice. This is an exciting time in our development, and we'd love you to join us.
We're developing new work that embraces disabilities (both visible and hidden) and want YOU to help us shape it.
We're keen to link up with parents and teachers of
children aged 2 to 7.
We’d like you to:
- Have a look at some of our work in progress
- Give us your feedback
If you can, we’d also love you to:
- Show the work to young audiences (your children, classes, nieces and nephews…!)
- Let us know their feedback
Fill out this simple form and we’ll get in touch!
As part of our Expert Panel you'll get to:
- Watch brand new dance and digital pieces before anyone else
- Give feedback as part of an online community
- Interact with our team of dance professionals
- Help us to create work that celebrates disability, supports access and inclusion, and puts children first
We also have 10 fantastic tote bags to give away!
Our founder, Rosie Heafford, identifies as a disabled artist. This is something she has grappled with for a long time - how to define the challenges this presents, how to overcome them in her work, how to support others in accessing the arts who may be less able to take part in the 'usual' way.
In 2020, we received Elevate funding from Arts Council England, to lift our practice to the next level. As part of this, we're working with mentors, a steering group, and collaborating with other artists to research and develop exciting new work with access and inclusion in mind.

Established in 2013, Second Hand Dance is a UK based dance company that makes highly visual performances touring nationally and internationally. Collaborating with dancers, artists, composers and the public we produce joyful, inspirational shows for children and adults that hold the audience experience at its centre. The work is often socially engaged, subtly participatory and can be presented in theatres, community spaces and outdoors.
In 2016, Artistic Director, Rosie Heafford, was shortlisted for the Arts Foundation Award for Children’s Theatre. Second Hand Dance is a Dream Artist with Pavilion Dance South West and company in residence with South East Dance. We are working with Claire Summerfield of Tandem Works as Executive Producer.
